this week we still at the substation department.we are so lucky because uncle Rajah from PMUKB (Pencawang Masuk Utama Kota Bharu) willing to explain and teach us about what actually covered in this department!
A substation is defined as the combination of voltage transformation and control equipment that provides supply voltage suitable for the consumers’ utilization needs.
as we already know, there are few types of substation which are:
a) Indoor substation
b) Outdoor substation
c) Pole mounted substation (H-pole)
d) Package or Compact substation
a) Indoor substation
b) Outdoor substation
c) Pole mounted substation (H-pole)
d) Package or Compact substation
we also need to understand the substation's compartment. There are 3 main compartments of a substation. They are:
a) Transformer >a device that use for step up or step down the voltage )
a) Transformer >a device that use for step up or step down the voltage )
b) Switchgear > Received the 11kV and feed to transformer.
> Isolate supply when it is needed
c) Low voltage distribution board (LVDB) or feeder pillar >a device that supplies the low voltage to consumers.
we also got an opportunity to see how the maintenance of substation. The purpose of maintenance of substation is to avoid supply interruption to consumer and to protect the TNB’s properties such as transformer and switchgear.
